If you have stepped dials or radio buttons you want to scroll through in performance, you might want to "reset" them before beginning, which means selecting the last item before the one you want to begin with. For me at least, that last item often has to contain actions that I wouldn't want to trigger in such a situation – hence, I'd suggest a companion for the "retrigger current value" action that would select the value but do nothing with it :).
