I propose enabling the use of plugins on a per-clip basis. Existing plugins set at the "Color" level should, of course, continue to apply to all clips within that channel. In addition, effects on the clip level should be possible, which apply only to the respective clip without overriding the "Color" effects. This ensures that the basic sound of the channel remains intact while individual clips can be creatively shaped through additional effects.
Furthermore, it should be possible to set sends for individual clips — just like it’s already possible on the Color level.
Another important aspect:
Clips should be able to use the exact same plugin instances already used in Colors.
For example, if Color "Orange" uses Plugin X instance "B", then this exact plugin instance (with shared parameters) should also be usable in a clip in Color "Green".
Additionally, as with Colors, it should be configurable per clip:
  • whether plugins are used pre-fader or post-fader,
  • whether sends are placed before all effects, before fader, after fader, or after all effects,
  • and the "Source" and "Destination" routing settings should also be available on the clip level.
Benefits:
  • Fine-grained control over the sound of individual clips without altering the parent channel.
  • More efficient use of plugin instances and shared parameter handling.
  • Creative and complex routing options at the clip level, matching the flexibility already available on the Color level.
