Description
This feature request proposes enhancing Loopy Pro's MIDI clip editor by integrating navigation gestures inspired by Xequence 2. The goal is to provide a more intuitive and efficient navigation experience, allowing users to seamlessly move, zoom, and edit MIDI clips without interrupting their workflow.
Problems
- Limited Gesture Integration: Currently, Loopy Pro requires users to switch between different gestures or modes to navigate and edit MIDI clips, which can disrupt the creative flow.
- Inefficient Workflow: The need to lift fingers or change parameters for different navigation actions slows down the editing process.
- Lack of Simultaneous Actions: Users cannot simultaneously move and zoom within the MIDI editor, limiting the fluidity of navigation.
Proposed Solution
- Unified Gesture System: Implement a navigation system where users can, for example, pinch with two fingers to simultaneously move up, down, horizontally, and zoom, without lifting their fingers or changing modes.
- Gesture Customization: Allow users to customize navigation gestures to suit their preferences, enhancing the overall user experience.
- Seamless Integration: Ensure that the new navigation features integrate smoothly with existing editing functionalities, maintaining consistency across the application.
Examples
- Simultaneous Move and Zoom: A user pinches with two fingers to zoom into a MIDI clip while dragging to move across the timeline, all in one fluid motion.
- Efficient Note Editing: While editing notes, a user can quickly navigate to different sections of the clip without switching tools or lifting their fingers, streamlining the editing process.
- Enhanced Live Performance Preparation: Musicians preparing for live performances can swiftly navigate and edit MIDI clips, making last-minute adjustments more manageable.
Benefits
- Improved Workflow Efficiency: Reduces the number of steps required to navigate and edit MIDI clips, saving time and effort.
- Enhanced User Experience: Provides a more intuitive and natural interaction with the MIDI editor, aligning with modern touch-based interface standards.
- Greater Creative Freedom: Allows users to focus more on creativity and less on navigating the interface, fostering a more productive environment.

I Wish Loopy Pro's MIDI clip editor let you move around like Xequence 2’s:
You don't have to let to of your fingers to move up or down while expanding, pinching and zooming, changing between those actions.
I prefer to move the notes like in Loopy but moving around in the editor is better in Xequence

With Xequence you dont have to let go of your fingers, or change parameters for moving in the editor:
If you pinch with two fingers you can simultaneously move Up, Down, Horizontally while zooming.
