Description:
Add actions to
copy audio to the system clipboard
(or an internal audio clipboard) and
paste from clipboard
into Loopy Pro—supporting whole clips or selected time ranges, with options for format, alignment, and quantized placement.
Problem:
Moving audio between clips, pages, and projects—or into/out of other apps—requires exporting files, hunting in Files, and re-importing. For quick rearrangements, comping, or grabbing the last take, this is slow and breaks creative flow. There’s no one-tap way to copy a slice and paste it precisely at a musical boundary.
Proposed Solution:
  • New Actions (copy):
-
Copy Clip Audio
(entire clip)
-
Copy Time Range
(split, then copy selected range across one/many clips)
-
Copy Last Recording / Last Take
-
Copy Rendered with FX Tail
(optional render of sends/inserts with N ms/bar tail)
- Format:
LoopyClip
(with metadata),
WAV/AIFF
(PCM),
CAF
(long),
FLAC
(optional).
- Metadata embed: tempo, time signature, loop length, color, note.
  • New Actions (paste):
-
Paste As New Clip
at
playhead / next beat / next bar / next loop boundary
(quantize toggle, ± offset)
-
Paste Into Selected Clip
Replace
(overwrite),
Insert
(ripple), or
Mix/Overdub
(gain-merge)
-
Paste to Color/Track
(auto-create clip),
Paste to Selection Across Tracks
- “
Fit to Loop
” (time-stretch to target loop length) with
preserve pitch/time
options.
  • Clipboard & Interop:
- Uses
iPadOS pasteboard
when possible; falls back to an
internal multi-slot audio clipboard
(history: last 10 items) for big content.
- Drag & drop supported; pasteboard size warning + progress HUD for large audio.
- Sample-rate/bit-depth/channel conversion on paste; mono↔stereo rules.
  • Edit & Safety Options:
- Optional
auto-crossfades
at paste joins; snap to grid; “late-press” deferral guard.
- Respect clip warps/fades when copying time ranges; include/exclude FX.
- Undo as a single step; protected/locked clips honored.
  • Variables & Feedback:
-
clipboard.hasAudio
,
clipboard.format
,
clipboard.durationMs
,
clipboard.sampleRate
,
clipboard.channels
- HUD: “Pasted 4.0 bars to Blue @ next bar (time-fit on).”
  • Quality of Life:
-
Copy as File Link
(reference) vs
Copy as Rendered Audio
(bounce).
-
Paste Special
dialog: gain, normalize, dither, fit mode, crossfade length.
Benefits:
  • Instant, DAW-style copy/paste for audio across clips, colors, pages, and projects.
  • Faster comping, arrangement tweaks, and idea sharing—no file round-trips.
  • Musical accuracy with quantized paste and optional time-fit.
  • Reliable interop with other apps via the iPadOS clipboard or internal history.
Examples:
  • Copy a
    2-bar chorus slice
    (with 250 ms tail) and
    Paste as New Clip
on the next bar, time-fit to a 1-bar loop for a stutter effect.
  • After recording, hit
    Copy Last Take
    and
Paste Into Selected Clip → Mix
to layer harmonies without leaving the page.
  • Long-press
    Paste Special
to replace a verse region with auto-crossfade and preserve pitch while time-fitting to 3 bars.
  • Copy audio in Loopy Pro and
    paste into an external sampler
that reads from the system clipboard; or pull audio from another app and paste straight onto a colored track in Loopy.

Copy audio to clipboard and paste from clipboard actions
It would help workflow of there was a command or commands to get a clip's audio into the clipboard and from clipboard into a targeted clip. this speed up the process of getting audio from clips in a loopy au instance into the main app. currently it takes a lot of taps to do that.
it would vastly speed up the process of getting audio into and out of the clipboard. the showing of the share sheet which is currently required is very slow.
