be able to split overdubs while stay in overdub mode to have the ability to peel off failed overdub PARTS but not the full overdub

Goal: the ability to press a MIDI controller/action button DURING overdub mode to stay in overdub mode but overlay a second overdub.
Means: stay in overdub mode but switch from overdub part 1 to overdub part 2. I want to record some overdubs (each overdub can be used e.g. for recordings of basically the same melody but with different timbre or octave +1/-1) in the same clip and later peel -1 overdub part off or replace +1 overdub part of the clip.
Or maybe the solution could be it that the overdub part is just one extra overdub LAYER but you can set marks manually AND you are able to set it automatically (each new cycle). Every newly marked area in an overdub can be peeled off / replaced.
This is very helpful, for example, if you record a new overdub and record for instance several octaves of a melody one after the other, but make a mistake in between. You could simply delete the last recorded marker and record it again instead of deleting the entire overdub. I've had this wish ever since I started looping live.
Goal: while overdubbing I want to hit my MIDI foot controller button to go from overdub part 1 directly into overdub part 2, then into overdub part 3, then into overdub part 4 etc. Later I want to be able to peel off / replace overdub parts. Example:
- you hit MIDI controller button 1 to go into overdub mode and now you record for instance a melody
- then you press the same MIDI controller button 1 (or another one) to go directly into overdub part 2 and the overdub is still recording (and once you pressed this button you record for instance the same melody but 1 octave higher)
- then you press the same MIDI controller button 1 (or another one) to go directly into overdub part 3 and the overdub is still recording (and once you pressed this button you record for instance the same melody but 2 octaves higher)
- then you press the same MIDI controller button (or another one) to go directly into overdub part 4 and the overdub is still recording (and once you pressed this button you record for instance the same melody but 3 octaves higher)
- then but damn, your playing for overdub part 4 was so awful, so you luckily are now able to peel off/cancel/delete the last overdub (part 4) by hit the same MIDI controller button LONG PRESS or another MIDI controller button which a) allows you instant to re-record overdub part 4 OR instant switches back into play mode
