Loop record modes: Insert and Replace

Also allowing such operations when dropping a clip onto an other will be fantastic!
ultracello
For the upcoming functions insert/replace it would be great to be able with one single MIDI foot switch following:
- short press: start insert/replace; next short press: end insert/replace
- long press: when press immediately start insert/replace, when release: end insert/replace
So one can decide on the fly the operation mode.

ultracello This might reveal to be problematic with very short replace. I often use very short replace and would like the function to be momentary, like what you're suggesting with the "long press", but also with a short press.

Replace is already there. Just pull the clip feedback to zero and overdub.
I definitely want 'insert' though!

Please allow to choose a specific clip
layer
or the whole clip
for Insert/Replace function.ultracello
Please allow also record overdub but in reverse. Means: let’s say you have some overdubs in your clip. But now you want to record another overdub. But only this overdub layer should added and be played (after its recording is finished) in reverse.

ultracello: yes, I use that everyday in the monome norns experimental loopers, if overdubed or recorded while reverse then that audio will be reversed if switch to normal and vice versa

For the Insert / Replace within a clip function:
You can insert/replace with following
velocity
options/effects:– stutter
– LFO
– fades
You can load these presets with an action via MIDI controller.
Imagine the sound possibilities!
Any else suggestions?
ultracello
Example for fades:
– START of clip -> replace 80% of the whole clip (or just overdub #4)
– END of the clip -> replace 20% of the whole clip (or just overdub #4)
(It's basically an automation lane from 80% (clip start) to 20% (clip end)
